I guess some find it hard to be honest all the time...you are right....
But I do tend to be truthful and honest about 99% of the time....the 1% that i am not is normanly about myself...n how i am feeling about myself..ie feeling ill that sort of thing...
Other than that...i just say how it is there and then....I do tend to hurt alot of peoples feelings as I go...My view is why ask someone about their opinion or what ever n then exspect a lie in return...odd thing to do lol...
I have been told to fib to safe someone's feelings....hell no...why should i?...What is the point of being dishonest at tall? lol

I guess that depends on what you chose to inform your children...My children knew from start that it was mummy and daddy putting out the Xmas presents....N when they were even older...we told them the true story of Saint Nicolaus... Easter Bunny....never claimed to my children that there was a big bunny running around....I give them the true meaning behind all of these...and they seem to enjoy the celebrations of that season...I do not believe in filling children with fantasy....How will they learn to be honest if they are lied too right at the beginning...I do not say to others that they are lying to their children but i refuse to be brought into the lie...I have far to much respect for my own...that I would want them to be the same in return...
I cannot lie to someone to benefit them...As how can any lie benefit anyone?

WHAT!!!! there is no Santa Claus?? I kinda had a feeling about the Easter Bunny and all...but...thanks a lot people!!!

I have to agree with Peg on this one...honesty is admirable but is a relative term...being an honest person doesn't mean 100% honesty....necessarily...

also...i do believe in presenting fantasy to children...to sometimes fill their heads with rainbows...as total honesty is too black and white...color adds character...abstract...thought process which can take many avenues...adding dimension...

i often take my children down imagination lane...where boundaries are meant to be challenged in order to see how they take the journey back to a solution where the lane meets back with reality....and my children have been taught that a lie only remains a lie if the truth is never revealed...and this has been taught with the thought in mind that is okay to make mistakes...for this is how we learn...but limit the mistakes...and stay away from the big ones...

I try to be honest as I was raised that honesty was the best policy and I do believe that. I have lied to get out of a relationship however as since I was the one wanting to leave I didn't want to cause further pain in the situation. It's not you it's me. Erg. Starting to get to be an old line.

It's a vital subject for a poll, as being honest is the most important in our life. It affects not only our personal life, but also all other aspects of life like economical, political, social & international relations aspects.

Hello everyone....

Brilliant replies thank you....
I do agree that using tack is very important while dealing with certain matters.... I also agree that children are free to use their imagination with some fantasy...but as-long as they are also taught that is all it is 'fantasy'... I believe with reaching a balance of the two levels of understanding...one, that of a child n two, of the adult way of thinking .... both have to meet at a level where they truly understand the meaning of fact n friction...
Because i have come across many children who know neither... as they are confused to what is i real n what is not... So be honest to them from the start...without taking away the fairy tale...you have to make it clear that's all it is....

I explain honestly to all questions that I wish to reply too...Other's that I chose not...i will say...I will not go out of my way to insult someone...nor would i insult their intelligence either or disrespect them, by lying to them...
I have been placed into the middle of a lie...and i had to chose which side to take..That of my friend who had lied to safe her neck...or that of my other friend who she had lied too... And right in-front of  both i was used as an alibi by the person i thought was a friend... I cared for both n what was i to do?....what would you do...If i said leave me out of this...that would of caused doubt in the innocent person who has been lied too...n placing me in the middle to cover for my other friend... So i said nothing...And changed the subject... I felt betrayed... And by not coming forward...i betrayed my friend...
Do see what i mean...If she had been honest in the first place this would not of happened... N 3 people would be all talking right now...I cannot talk to them because of what i have mentioned above...

This is why i feel its soooo important to be honest.... Others get hurt by others lies in mores ways than one...

Just my opinion Smile (along winded one hahahaha...oh did i also mention I'm a chatter box too haha)

I have a huge issue with being to honest.. I get in "trouble" all the time for it.  Mostly cause I say exactly what I'm thinking the stop and dam that was kinda harsh, or thats now how I meant it..  It's not meant to be mean or hurtful but just comes out that way sometimes.  I wish i had the ability to fast forward and screen my thought before they come out.  It would probably save me some "trouble".....
