The Word of God says, “If God be for us, who can be against us?” (Romans 8:31).

He is our salvation. He is our strength. He is our Source.

My friend Dr. Kenneth Ulmer joins me this week on This Is Your Day! to remind us how God wants to bless each of us!


It’s a Matter of Choices
In a day of shifting economics, what Dr. Ulmer shares on the program is both timely and crucial.

Whether you have a little money or a lot, it is time that you move into a greater dimension of kingdom blessings, and Kenneth has been anointed especially for this day to show you how to make your money count!

It all comes down to choices.

Your choices are crucial, but God doesn’t make a secret about how He wants you to make those choices. He says, “I have set before you life and death, blessing and cursing: therefore choose life, that both thou and thy seed may live” (Deuteronomy 30:19).

God wants to pour out great blessings upon you, but just believing in prosperity and financial success is not enough. You must go through a process to achieve biblical prosperity.

What is often called “the gospel of prosperity” is faulty when it ignores the biblical process.

God is a God of order, not chaos. There is an order to achieving what He wants you to have, and it is time that each believer puts this process into financial success.

What is this process?

God Is Your Source
On This Is Your Day! Dr. Ulmer tells us that the words money and riches appear more than 215 times in the Bible. God obviously wants us to know about finances. He wants us to know how to handle money.

The process must start with the knowledge that God is your Source: “But my God shall supply all your need according to his riches in glory by Christ Jesus” (Philippians 4:19).

“My God” requires a personal relationship with Him, an acknowledgement that He is Savior and Lord.

Then, and only then, will He supply all your needs according to His riches in glory.

Then you can begin following His process into all the blessings He has in store for you.

True Prosperity
The next step in the biblical process is understanding whether God wants believers to have wealth or not.

God says:

Blessed is the man that walketh not in the counsel of the ungodly, nor standeth in the way of sinners, nor sitteth in the seat of the scornful. But his delight is in the law of the Lord; and in his law doth he meditate day and night. And he shall be like a tree planted by the rivers of water, that bringeth forth his fruit in his season; his leaf also shall not wither; and whatsoever he doeth shall prosper. (Psalm 1:1-3)

The happy, blessed, and prosperous person does not walk in the counsel of the ungodly, but he chooses to follow the law of the Lord.

What does God Himself have to say about prosperity?

• “He who trusts in the Lord will prosper” (Proverbs 28:25, NIV). 

• “Turn not from it to the right hand or to the left, that thou mayest prosper whithersoever thou goest” (Joshua 1:7). 

• “Walk in all the way that the Lord your God has commanded you, so that you may live and prosper” (Deuteronomy 5:33, NIV). 

• “Keep therefore the words of this covenant, and do them, that ye may prosper in all that ye do” (Deuteronomy 29:9). 

• “The Lord commanded us to obey all these decrees and to fear the Lord our God, so that we might always prosper and be kept alive” (Deuteronomy 6:24, NIV). 

• “A generous man will prosper” (Proverbs 11:25, NIV). 

• “But thou shalt remember the Lord thy God: for it is he that giveth thee power to get wealth” (Deuteronomy 8:18). 

I love Dr. Ulmer’s definition of prosperity: “To prosper means to succeed to the point of excellence—to the highest level.”

All we have to do is put His process into play: “For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, saith the Lord, thoughts of peace, and not of evil, to give you an expected end” (Jeremiah 29:11). Another version of this verse tells us that the Lord “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future” (NIV).

True prosperity is simply success God’s way!

We see many examples of people living by this principle throughout the Bible—Abraham, Isaac, Jacob, Joseph, David, and so many more.

In fact, Jesus talked often about money and finances, offering the parable of the talents: “So he called ten of his servants and gave them ten minas. ‘Put this money to work,’ he said, ‘until I come back’” (Luke 19:13, NIV). The master gave the money to his servants with these clear instructions: “Do business until I return.”

This is not a suggestion. He gave money with a command.

The master in the parable was a businessman who earned some of his money by having others invest it on his behalf. He expected his servants to behave the same way with his money.

When the master returned, he rewarded the two who were faithful in business. The one who hid his money set himself up for strict judgment.

The master had commanded action. Nothing less was accepted. Fear of failure was not accepted as an excuse.

And today there is much to be done before our Lord returns. Our job is to conduct business with the resources He gives us until He returns.

More importantly, the goal is not just to work more to make more money. Instead, on This Is Your Day! Dr. Ulmer teaches to make your money work for you, as in the parable of the talents.

God’s Five Blessings of Money
God’s desire is to bless you. He wants to pour out wisdom and power that will allow you to make your money count.

God has a system, a process, to pour out His blessings upon you:

And God is able to make all grace abound toward you; that ye, always having all sufficiency in all things, may abound to every good work… Now he that ministereth seed to the sower both minister bread for your food, and multiply your seed sown, and increase the fruits of your righteousness;) Being enriched in every thing to all bountifulness, which causeth through us thanksgiving to God. For the administration of this service not only supplieth the want of the saints, but is abundant also by many thanksgivings unto God. (2 Corinthians 9:8, 10-12)

God has ordained five blessings of money:

1.    As seed for the sower

2.    To provide bread

3.    To multiply the seed that is sown

4.    To increase the fruits of our righteousness

5.    To give

God’s Principle of Multiplication
The seed that God multiplies is the seed that has already been sown. He doesn’t multiply the seed that you keep. You have to sow it first, then it is multiplied.

You only reap what you sow!

You only reap after you sow!

You always reap more than you sow!

God’s kingdom operates through giving and receiving, as opposed to the world’s system which operates through buying and selling.

In the world you get addition from interest, but in God’s kingdom, interest isn’t just added. It is multiplied!

God gives us seed for our need, but He wants to move us into supernatural abundance that comes through the principle of multiplication.

The Purpose of Abundance
God is not concerned as much about the size of your bank account or the amount of seed that you plant, but He is mostly concerned about the size of your heart!

Doing kingdom business must always point to the spreading of God’s Word.

God does not need your money. He wants your heart, for that is the great indicator of what you treasure.

As you follow God’s process for sowing and reaping, He will pour out abundance. But the purpose of God’s multiplication must always be focused on expanding God’s kingdom and taking the Gospel to the nations.

It is not to be hoarded or hidden.

God’s heart is to bless you. If you will seek His heart and follow His ways, He already has great abundance stored up for you!

Get ready to receive from Him.

Plant into good soil.

Expect a return on the seed that you plant. In fact, plant it with a specific expectation!

God’s goal is not merely to meet your need. His goal for you is abundance so you can shower your overflow onto others.

This Amazing Season
God is moving mightily today. He is shaking the nations. We have a great work to do.

At the same time, God wants you to be blessed in every area of your life!

He has promised to supply whatever we need to accomplish all that He has called us to do:

Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that believeth on me, the works that I do shall he do also; and greater works than these shall he do; because I go unto my Father. And whatsoever ye shall ask in my name, that will I do, that the Father may be glorified in the Son. If ye shall ask any thing in my name, I will do it. (John 14:12-14) 

God wants to bless you richly in all that you do for Him in the days to come, for He says: “Now unto him that is able to do exceeding abundantly above all that we ask or think, according to the power that worketh in us, Unto him be glory in the church by Christ Jesus throughout all ages, world without end. Amen” (Ephesians 3:20-21).

This is an amazing season, and I want you to be a part of what God is going to do.

Dr. Don Colbert’s Keys to Improving Your Health

On This Is Your Day! Dr. Don Colbert shared how you can build a healthier body and experience vibrant health in just 50 days.

Keys to Health

Diseases fill our world—from heart problems to diabetes, cancer, and an ever-increasing dictionary of new medical challenges—yet we see in Genesis that humans were brought into a perfect world, perfectly designed by the Creator for maximum health.

Dr. Colbert has said, “Healing and divine health are God’s perfect will for mankind. God created Adam as a healthy being—a perfect act of creation. We find no record of sickness until Adam chose to disobey God. Sickness and disease entered the human race because of Adam’s sin. God’s plan was that Adam would enjoy divine health.” What happened?

The Bible offers the way to live under God’s pattern for health and abundant blessings. As we have seen in Exodus 15, God even promised that His people would suffer “none of these diseases” if they would only follow His guidelines. What happened is what continues to take place. We follow man’s ideas instead of the Creator’s.

Let’s look briefly at the three areas Dr. Colbert discussed.

Strengthen Your Heart
More money is spent treating heart disease than any other illness. We know that heart disease is the leading cause of death in the United States, claiming hundreds of thousands of lives each year.

According to the Centers for Disease Control and American Heart Association statistics, heart disease and strokes—leading components of cardiovascular disease—are the first and third leading causes of death in the United States. Also, according to the same reports:

• Heart disease and strokes accounted for nearly 40 percent of all deaths.
• About 70 million Americans (almost one-fourth of the population) have some form of cardiovascular disease, which is responsible for more than 6 million hospitalizations each year.
• About 90 percent of middle-aged Americans will develop high blood pressure in their lifetime, and nearly 70 percent of those who have it now do not have it under control.

The prevention and control of the major risk factors for heart disease and stroke are critical to achieving a heart-healthy and stroke-free lifestyle. Individuals can reduce their chance of developing heart disease by exercising regularly, maintaining healthy eating habits and weight, avoiding tobacco use, and monitoring cholesterol and blood pressure levels.

What can you do to have a healthier heart? Dr. Colbert says, “People in undeveloped nations who cannot afford to eat steak, butter, and fatty foods experience very little heart disease. Their so-called poverty diets consist of healthy fruits, grains, and vegetables.”

Prevention of heart disease should begin during your childhood and continue through your life, but you can begin your healthy heart program today. Reducing your LDL cholesterol by 50 points, for example, can reduce the risk of a heart attack or stroke by as much as 50 percent, so the sooner you get started, the better!

One of the best ways is to substantially reduce saturated fat intake (which includes cutting back on red meats, high-fat dairy products, sweets, and high-carbohydrate foods), taking advantage of monounsaturated fats that help reduce LDL cholesterol (including olive oil, canola oil, avocados, nuts, seeds), and dramatically increasing fruits, vegetables, and herbs—great sources of vitamins and minerals which are essential to your health.

Prevent Diabetes
According to the American Diabetes Association, we are in the midst of an epidemic with 20.8 million children and adults in the United States, or 7 percent of the population, with diabetes. While an estimated 14.6 million have been diagnosed with Type 1 or Type 2 diabetes, unfortunately, 6.2 million people (or nearly one-third) are unaware that they have the disease.

In addition, there are 54 million Americans who have prediabetes, a condition that occurs when a person's blood glucose levels are higher than normal but not high enough for a diagnosis of Type 2 diabetes.

Most people with diabetes have increased health problems, including arteriosclerosis (hardening of the arteries), blindness, kidney failure, neuropathy (nerve damage and loss of feeling, especially in feet and hands), and amputation. High blood pressure and cholesterol, combined with diabetes, mean that more than 65 percent of people with diabetes die from heart disease or stroke.

However, according to Dr. Colbert, by managing diabetes, high blood pressure, and cholesterol, people with diabetes can reduce risks. Reversing the trends that lead to diabetes should include not only increased activity and exercise, but also a healthier diet filled with fiber, antioxidants, minerals, and vitamins.

Reduce the Risk of Cancer
Long considered a “prosperity” disease, cancer is a term for diseases in which abnormal cells divide without control and often invade other tissues, spreading to other parts of the body through the blood and lymph systems. There are more than 100 different types of cancer.

In the United States and other developed countries, cancer is presently responsible for about 25 percent of all deaths. In fact, cancer has surpassed heart disease as the leading cause of death for people younger than 85 since 1999.

The general consensus shows that modern diets greatly increase the risk of developing cancer. By contrast, according to Dr. Colbert, study after study of people around the world with higher intakes of plant-based foods show a marked decrease in cancer. It always seems to come back to a healthier diet and more exercise, doesn’t it?

Turn Back the Clock
Your health and vitality depend upon so many different components such as nutrition, stress, biochemistry, genes, and fitness. Doing certain things not only can keep you from aging rapidly, but they can actually help you turn back the clock.

In other words, your life and health depend upon factors largely under your own control. While this is by no means an exhaustive list, here are several practical ways you can live healthier, no matter how young or old you are today:

• Be aware of your genetic weaknesses and strengths. You can’t choose your genes, of course, but you can be alert to tendencies that run in your family and seek to overcome those traits. Get tested more often for areas with a higher risk.
• Change your future! Just because someone in your family died from a heart attack when they were 55 or 65 or 105 doesn’t mean that you have to fall into a chasm of self-fulfilling prophecy. Seek medical guidance on how to overcome genetic traits, then change what you can.
• Realize that time is on your side. The life-expectance numbers are rising by the year. Modern medicine continues to unravel many secrets of illness and genetic challenges. Preventive medicine is exploding with new solutions to age-old questions. Seek out information, and learn what works for you.
• Resolve to get fitter and healthier than ever before. Regardless of where you are right now—good, bad or in-between—you can get better. Study after study of people from all age groups, even those in their 90s, show that those who follow a program of health and fitness tend to live longer and with a better quality of life.

Seek God’s guidance in your life, no matter how many birthday candles you get to blow out each year. Without the Lord in your life, you are running in circles with no end in sight. With Him, you have meaning and direction.

Remember, as Dr. Colbert points out time after time, you are responsible for you. Free choice is a tremendous gift from God, but it is also a life-or-death challenge. It is up to you to make changes in your lifestyle and environment that contribute to better health, regardless of your age.

CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa (CNN) -- Saying she felt compelled to support "the man I believe has a new vision for America," Oprah Winfrey spoke passionately about Democratic presidential hopeful Barack Obama at two rallies in Iowa Saturday.

"I've never taken this kind of risk before nor felt compelled to stand up and speak out before because there wasn't anyone to to stand up and speak up for," Winfrey told thousands of people in Cedar Rapids Saturday evening.

"We need a president who can bring us all together," she said. "I know [Barack Obama] is the one."

"These are dangerous times, you can feel it. We need a leader who shows us how to hope again in America as a force for peace," Winfrey told the enthusiastic crowd.

"I believe Barack Obama will bring statesmanship to the White House," she said. "He's a man who knows who we are and knows who we can be."

Winfrey said she has voted for as many Republicans as she has Democrats over the years, so her endorsement wasn't about partisanship.

"This is very, very personal. I'm here because of my personal conviction about Barack Obama and what I know he can do for America," she said to applause.

Winfrey also told the crowd that she's looking for more than a candidate with "experience in the hallways of government."

"I challenge you to see through those people who try to convince you that experience with politics as usual is more valuable than wisdom won from years of serving people outside the walls of Washington, D.C.," she said.

Obama thanked Winfrey for drawing a big crowd and coming out to the event.

"There are some people here who are here to see Oprah. I'm sort of a by-product of that and I appreciate that, but what I know is that for her to take the risk of stepping out of her comfort zone is extraordinary," the senator from Illinois said.

Before Winfrey's speech in Des Moines, her best friend and fellow talk show host Gayle King, tried to quietly slip into the rally.

She walked up to the set of bleachers behind the stage and asked some women if she could scoot in.

Within seconds cameras were clicking and fans were yelling. King spent the speech in the first row of bleachers chatting up supporters, listening and and mingling with fans.

Winfrey's campaign appearance comes less than one month before the Iowa caucuses.

After Iowa, the three-state "Oprah-bama" tour moves on to South Carolina and New Hampshire on Sunday.

The nod by the empress of daytime television comes at a time when independent politicos and campaign aides believe the Democratic senator from Illinois is picking up steam. The latest Des Moines Register poll puts Obama ahead of Sen. Hillary Clinton, D-New York, in Iowa and shows him gaining ground among women.

Women are proving to be a crucial voting block in 2008 for all the Democratic hopefuls, but most especially Clinton. At a recent Obama rally in Iowa City, many women expressed the difficulty they had in deciding whether to vote for him or for Clinton because she could be a first for their gender. Winfrey's endorsement is an obvious boost for Obama in his effort to steal women voters from Clinton.

"I think it's going to help him with the women my age because she's very popular, very respected among my age group," said Linda Peterson, a middle aged mother and probable Obama voter from North Liberty, Iowa.

According to The New York Times, women make up 75 percent of the audience for the "Oprah Winfrey Show" and more than half are over 50. More than 40 percent make less than $40,000 and a quarter have no more than a high school education.

"One of the secretaries was just so excited about the fact that Oprah was coming," said Jodi Plumert, a University of Iowa professor and ardent Obama supporter. "She said 'Who would've thought Oprah, coming to little old Iowa!'"

"I think that having Oprah here on Saturday will definitely pull women out," said Iowa City resident and Obama precinct captain Cheryl Carter. "I think it will just show that women in Iowa are Barack Obama supporters."

Although Clinton will be campaigning in Iowa on Friday and Saturday, rival campaigns acknowledge Winfrey will leave little air in the Hawkeye State. Watch what issues are important to Iowans »

"Sen. Clinton is a big fan [of Winfrey's] and thinks it's great for every candidate to bring in surrogates," said a Clinton aide. "But ultimately the voters of Iowa, New Hampshire, South Carolina and America are going to vote based on the actual candidate's experience, strength, record and the ability to do the job on Day One."
