Why does it hit you right in the face?
and leave you with options all over the place.
Why does it hold you in a tight warm embrace?
then loosen its grip and quicken the pace
and trick you to getting ahead in the race
only to find your running in last place.
Why does it hit you right in the face?
to get you up mornings to reclaim your place
in the ever changing world of time and space
while leaving your mark at least a mere trace
for others to touch or reason to chase
the right out of reach the hard to replace.
Why does it hit you right in the face?
to teach you humility and fill you with grace.
